Overview
Arrest Ledger is a free public-record index focused on South Carolina arrest information. You do not need an account to browse the site. Arrest Ledger does not sell personal information, sell background reports, or operate an employment, tenant, credit, insurance, or other eligibility-screening service.
This policy describes information processed by the website itself. Public arrest information displayed on record pages is addressed separately below.
Information processed when you use the site
The current site code does not use advertising trackers, analytics SDKs, marketing pixels, or account-based tracking cookies. Normal web hosting may still process technical information needed to deliver the site, such as an IP address, browser type, requested URL, date/time, and basic server logs.
Searches are performed through the site interface and may place the search term in the page URL. As with ordinary web requests, a hosting provider may log that requested URL.
Most record photographs are loaded from official government or law-enforcement servers; a narrowly documented historical image-source exception may be stored locally. When your browser requests an externally hosted image, that external server necessarily receives the network request, including your IP address and browser information. Arrest Ledger uses no-referrer image requests where supported to reduce unnecessary referral information.
Removal, correction, and legal requests
If you contact Arrest Ledger about a record, we may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, name, the record URL, arrest date, arresting agency, and documentation showing a dismissal, discharge, expungement, acquittal, correction, or other disposition.
We use that information only to identify the relevant record, evaluate and respond to the request, comply with applicable law, maintain an audit trail, and prevent a removed record from being republished. A nonpublic suppression identifier may be retained after public removal solely to prevent automatic republication.
Please do not send a Social Security number, full date of birth, home address, personal phone number, financial information, medical information, or driver's-license information unless it is genuinely necessary to establish the requested correction. Those items generally are not needed. Redact unrelated sensitive information from supporting documents before sending them.
Public-record information
Arrest Ledger publishes information drawn from public arrest records and official agency publications. An arrest is not a conviction. Charges may later be reduced, dismissed, expunged, or result in a not-guilty finding. Arrest Ledger does not intentionally publish identifying juvenile arrest information and maintains adult-only publication safeguards.
Some profiles may include other independently verified information that was already publicly available. Employment entries may include an employer or organization location; that field describes workplace or organization geography and is not presented as the person's residence or current whereabouts. Arrest Ledger does not intentionally publish current-location or residence enrichment, home addresses, personal telephone numbers, personal email addresses, full dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial information, or medical information as profile enrichment.
Sharing and retention
Arrest Ledger does not sell browsing data or removal-request information. Information may be processed by service providers that host or operate the site, or disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, protect the site and its users, investigate misuse, or establish or defend legal rights.
Removal/correction correspondence and related documentation may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to process the request, document compliance, prevent republication, and handle related legal obligations. We aim to minimize retained sensitive information.
Security, children, and external sites
Reasonable safeguards are used for information maintained by Arrest Ledger, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.
The service is not directed to children under 13. Arrest Ledger also does not intentionally publish identifying juvenile arrest records. If you believe a juvenile record appears on the site, use the Removal & Correction process.
The site may link to or load content from government and other third-party sites. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this policy.
Your requests and policy changes
You may ask about information you submitted to Arrest Ledger, request a correction, or request removal through the Removal & Correction page. Applicable legal rights are not limited by this policy.
This policy may be updated as the site changes. The effective date above will be revised when a material update is made.
