Arrest Ledger / Terms

Terms of Use

Effective September 19, 2026

Purpose of the service

Arrest Ledger is a free informational index of publicly available South Carolina arrest information. It is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by a law-enforcement agency, court, or government entity.

By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Arrest information is not a conviction record

An arrest means that a person was reported arrested or charged; it does not establish guilt. Charges can be amended, reduced, dismissed, expunged, or result in acquittal. Unless a disposition is expressly displayed and identified as verified, Arrest Ledger does not represent that a displayed charge remains pending or resulted in conviction.

Information may be incomplete, delayed, duplicated, or later changed by the originating agency or court. Verify consequential information with the appropriate government source before relying on it.

Prohibited screening and eligibility uses

Arrest Ledger is not intended or offered as a consumer reporting agency, consumer report, or background-check service. You may not use the site or its information to determine another person's eligibility for employment, promotion, reassignment, retention, housing or tenancy, credit or lending, insurance, or any other purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar law.

You also may not represent to another person that Arrest Ledger is a verified background report suitable for such decisions.

Other prohibited uses

  • Do not use arrest data from the site to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, discriminate against, or impersonate a listed person.
  • Do not use government-derived arrest information from the site for direct commercial solicitation to the listed person.
  • Do not bulk harvest, scrape, or republish personal information for regulated screening, direct solicitation, harassment, doxxing, identity theft, or other unlawful purposes.
  • Do not attempt to bypass technical controls, interfere with the site, introduce malicious code, or use the service in violation of law.

Ordinary search-engine indexing and ordinary personal research are not prohibited merely because automated technology is involved, provided the use is otherwise lawful and consistent with these Terms.

Accuracy, corrections, and removals

Arrest Ledger aims to reproduce or summarize arrest information accurately and to distinguish arrest from conviction. If you believe a record identifies the wrong person, contains a material error, concerns a juvenile, or should be revised or removed because of a dismissal, discharge, expungement, not-guilty finding, or other disposition, use the Removal & Correction process.

Arrest Ledger does not charge a fee or require other consideration to review, revise, remove, or refrain from publishing a record. Nothing in these Terms limits rights provided by South Carolina law, including S.C. Code §17-1-60.

Public information and added information

Arrest-related fields are intended to reflect public records or official agency publications. Some profiles may also contain independently verified information that was already publicly available. Added information must not be understood as part of the underlying arrest record unless the site says so.

Arrest Ledger does not claim that public availability makes every item appropriate for every use. The site intentionally avoids publishing current-location or residence enrichment, home addresses, personal phone numbers, personal email addresses, full dates of birth, Social Security numbers, financial information, and medical information as profile enrichment.

Intellectual property and external content

The Arrest Ledger name, site design, original text, software, and compilation may be protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Underlying public records, government text, photographs, and third-party materials remain subject to whatever rights apply to those materials. Arrest Ledger does not grant you rights in third-party content merely because it is displayed or linked here.

Links and externally hosted images may lead to third-party sites. Arrest Ledger does not control those sites and is not responsible for their availability, security, policies, or later changes.

No legal advice; no guarantee

The site is informational and does not provide legal advice. No statement on Arrest Ledger is a substitute for a court record, official criminal-history record, or advice from a qualified professional.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided as available without warranties of uninterrupted availability, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. These Terms do not disclaim obligations or remedies that cannot legally be waived.

Limitation of liability and governing law

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arrest Ledger will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the site. This limitation does not apply where liability cannot lawfully be limited and does not limit statutory removal, correction, or other nonwaivable rights.

These Terms are governed by applicable federal law and the laws of South Carolina, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, to the extent permitted by law.

Changes and contact

These Terms may be updated as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised for material updates.
